Three Palestinians sustain injuries from Israeli army gunfire near Hebron
HEBRON: Three Palestinians Wednesday evening sustained injuries from Israeli army gunfire in the Beit Ummar town, north of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to a local activist.
Mohammad Awad said that the occupation forces stormed the town and deployed in the vicinity of the local girls’ school building, triggering confrontations.
The heavily armed soldiers opened gunfire, including live ammunition, towards local youths and other residents, injuring three with rubber-coated steel bullets and causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas inhalation.
All of the casualties were treated at the scene.
The occupation forces frequently conduct raids daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for ‘wanted’ Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicia
l authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
