The Netherlands to Ban Import of Products Made in Israeli Colonies

The hague: The Netherlands has announced its decision to impose a ban on the import of products originating from Israeli colonies. This move is set to be implemented swiftly, as indicated by Foreign Minister David van Wiel during a session in the Dutch House of Representatives.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Van Wiel emphasized that while the ban on imports will be enforced promptly, the legislative process to ban trade with colonies entirely, which is supported by a parliamentary majority, will require more time. He explained that leveraging existing sanctions legislation could expedite the ban, and preparations are already underway to issue a "general administrative decision" to facilitate this.

In the Dutch legal framework, a "general administrative decision" is an administrative regulation enacted by the government in accordance with the law. Additionally, on Wednesday, the Netherlands prohibited Israeli extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich from entering 29 European countries, as they have been designated "persona non grata."
