The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, received his Iranian counterpart, Ahmed Vahidi, today, Saturday, at the Zurbatiya border crossing in Wasit Governorate.
A statement of the Ministry of Interior stated: "The purpose of the Iranian Minister's visit is to hold a security meeting to discuss issues of joint security coordination, control of international borders, and preparation for receiving Iranian visitors during the Arba'een visit of this year."
It is hoped that the meeting will be attended by the governors of Basra and Wassit, the head of the Border Crossings Authority and a number of senior officials from both sides.
