The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, discussed today, Thursday, with the President of Ankara University, Prof. Dr. Necdet Onuvar, the possibility of signing an agreement between Ankara University and Iraqi universities. During the meeting, which was held in the Ankara University building in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, the Minister stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the scientific and academic fields, stressing the importance of modernizing the paths of scientific and cultural exchange, and enabling the universities of the two countries to pursue academic programs of common interest. The Minister called for establishing partnerships and cooperation between institutions of higher education and scientific research in the two countries in all fields, exchanging visits to academic institutions, participating in conferences, seminars and joint research projects, exchanging scholarships, and devel oping programs for granting doctorates and academic residencies. He also called for cooperation in the field of exchanging grants of Scholasticism. The Minister confirmed that Iraq has established its pioneering initiative, 'Study in Iraq with the aim of attracting international students to Iraqi universities, achieving knowledge and cultural exchange, and strengthening academic relations with countries around the world. The Minister extended an invitation to the President of Ankara University to visit Iraq within the framework of strengthening relations, activating communication with scientific institutions, and learning about the Iraqi experience in this important field. For his part, the President of Ankara University explained: 'Turkey and Iraq have an ancient cultural heritage that paves the appropriate ground for further partnership and cooperation in all fields, especially scientific and cultural ones,' noting that the exchange of fellowships and scholarships for students from both sides will contri bute to strengthening communication between the two peoples over the coming generations.
