The Minister of Communications is discussing with the global management of (GBI) the activation of submarine and transit cable projects

The Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, discussed with representatives of the senior management of the GBI International Company for Marine Cables the activation of submarine and transit cable projects and content data centers in Iraq.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry, a number of important issues were discussed with regard to the GBI submarine cable and ways to solve the problems that accompanied its operation during the previous period, as well as reaching agreements in this regard between the two sides to start new projects that contribute to providing the best communications and Internet services to citizens.

Al-Yasiri stressed the importance of submarine and transit cable projects in enhancing Iraq’s capabilities to communicate with the outside world, and improving the quality of communications and Internet services, noting that Iraq has a strategic location in the Arab region, allowing it to connect the countries of the region to each other.

On the other hand, the management of GBI International Company for Submarine Cables affirmed its commitment to support Iraq in implementing transit projects, and to provide the best services to Iraqi citizens.
