The Iraqi-Iranian joint local committee for the Arbaeen visit held its first meeting in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The Iraqi side was represented by the First Deputy Governor of Najaf, Hashim Al-Karawi, and on the Iranian side, the Mayor of Tehran, Ali Reza Zakani, in the presence of officials of the municipal and health departments in the two cities and the Iraqi ambassador in Tehran.
Al-Karawi said in a press statement: "We have central and local committees that held several sessions and meetings with the concerned and supportive authorities, especially with the Iranian side, for the purpose of coordination and cooperation in providing services to the pilgrims of the visit of Arbaeen."
For his part, the Mayor of Tehran confirmed: "There is confirmation by the central government to form joint committees between the two sides to provide services to pilgrims, the most important of which are transportation and health, as well as providing facilities for them during mutual visits between the two neighboring peoples."
