Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Ishaq Sidr announced today a partial return of communications and internet services in some areas of the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the minister said services were resumed after a limited amount of fuel was allowed into Gaza through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which will enable service operators to restart operations. He noted that the resumption of services came in response to international appeals and warnings made by the ministry. Sidr warned of the possibility of another interruption of services if fuel supplies necessary to operate the core components of the network are not secured.
