Madrid: Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has described the ongoing famine in Gaza, caused by Israel's blockade, as a shameful situation. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, in a post published late Sunday on X, Albares called on Israel to allow the continuous entry of vital humanitarian aid into Gaza without restrictions. He further affirmed that tens of thousands of people in the besieged enclave are at imminent risk of death from starvation. 'Spain is ready to send all necessary aid to Gaza,' he confirmed, adding that Madrid intends to escalate the humanitarian file to the United Nations. Gaza is experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis in its history, with a severe famine intertwined with a genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023. Despite mounting international, UN, and Palestinian warnings of the repercussions of famine in Gaza, Israel has continued to completely close the Strip's crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid since March 2, intensif ying its starvation strategy amid rising fears of mass death, particularly among children. According to the latest figures, the death toll from famine and malnutrition has reached 134, including 88 children, since October 7, 2023.
