Spain Rejects Israeli Proposal to Accept Displaced Palestinians from Gaza

Madrid: Spanish Foreign Minister Jos© Manuel Albares has firmly rejected a proposal by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz suggesting that Spain should accept Palestinians if they are displaced from Gaza. "The land of the people of Gaza is Gaza... and Gaza must be part of the future Palestinian state," Albares emphasized in a recent interview with a Spanish station.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this rejection follows a similar stance taken by Albares against a proposal from former US President Donald Trump. Trump had suggested resettling Gazans elsewhere and taking control of the Strip to create a "Riviera of the Middle East." Albares reiterated Spain's position, stating, "I want to be very clear on this matter, Gaza is the land of the Palestinians, the people of Gaza, and they must remain there."

Albares further stressed that "Gaza is part of the future Palestinian state that Spain supports." His statements come in response to Katz's assertion that countries like Spain, Ireland, and Norway, which recognized the Palestinian state last year, "are legally obligated to allow any resident of Gaza to enter their territories."
