Gaza city: Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have reported the deaths of six individuals, including two children, within the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, these recent fatalities bring the total number of deaths attributed to famine and malnutrition in Gaza to 393, of which 140 are children. The situation has deteriorated rapidly since the announcement by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), with 115 deaths, including 25 children, recorded since then.
Hospitals in Gaza continue to see a constant influx of malnutrition and famine cases. Currently, 900,000 children are experiencing hunger, with 70,000 of them reaching a state of malnutrition. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) previously warned that malnutrition among children under five years of age had doubled between March and June. This alarming increase has been attributed to the ongoing Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
