Saudi health authorities on Sunday warned pilgrims to avoid extended exposure to the sunlight, walking on the roofs or touching them during the rite in Mina and at the stoning site. The official Saudi Press Agency broadcast a statement by the Ministry of Health urging the faithful to adhere to the health instructions and abstain from venturing out between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to spare themselves possible sun strokes and heat fatigue. Prolonged exposure to the sunlight is a serious threat to the pilgrims' health, the ministry warned, calling on the devotees to use umbrellas, drink a lot of water throughout the day and abide by the instructions.
