The fifth international conference for general and speculum surgeries began on Wednesday in Sana'a City. The Yemeni Surgeon Society-organized conference will, over three days, discuss 57 working papers on general and speculum surgeries in line with up-to-date techniques, information and scientific researches. The conference is a platform to share relevant knowledge and expertise on speculum surgery and other interventions based on the newest scientific outputs, minister of health said in a speech to the opening session, in the presence of a group of specialists and consultants from different governorates. The fifth conference provides a chance to build capacities and boost services based on scientific data and national plans to improve health indicators in Yemen, Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil added, as his "ministry is determined to encourage such scientific conferences in order to keep in line with every new" idea in this respect. The conference also saw speeches by its chairman, Dr. Najy Haumash, head of the Y emeni Surgeon Society, Dr. Abdul-Halim al-Tamimi, and head of the conference's preparatory committee, Dr. Mohamed al-Shahari, who underlined the importance of the conference in terms of sharing expertise.
