Moscow: The Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed today that lasting and genuine peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that the Palestinian-Israeli settlement remains central to achieving stability in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated during a press conference that justice in the question of Palestine is essential for any sustainable peace agreement in the Middle East. She emphasized Russia's continued belief in the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with relevant international resolutions.
Zakharova further noted that Russia sees Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian Territory as a significant barrier to peace. She stressed the importance of the international community taking firm positions against these policies, advocating for continued diplomatic pressure to ensure the right of Palestinians to self-determination.
