Director General of the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Fairouz?Mubaideen, participated on Wednesday in a panel discussion on the first day of the 13th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) as part of the "Robotic Journalism: When Machines Write the News," roundtable on the agenda of the Sharjah Press Club. "Artificial intelligence and robotics are becoming more and more prevalent in all fields, particularly media and journalism, due to the rapid and significant advancements in technology. While robotic journalism is an integral part of professional journalism and a vital support, and will never replace human labor, the younger generation is resisting this change out of fear for the future of human survival and advancement,"?Mubaideen said. The accuracy of the information is the most important concern when discussing the writing of news by machines, ?Mubaideen said, because a journalist verifies and checks the information from a credible source something that a machine or application cannot accomp lish. She called for the separation of artificial intelligence from human intelligence in the video industry specifically, arguing that doing otherwise will cause confusion and discourage people from watching professional media. Petra's chief also emphasized the need for media colleges and technical colleges to collaborate in order to equip media students with robotics expertise and related technology, and to integrate them into media work environments. This will create new job opportunities while preserving human interaction, as humans are more creative and giving than robots, which will limit the quality of journalism and the presentation of media materials.
