Riyadh hosts first meeting of the Global Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution
RIYADH: Riyadh Wednesday hosted the first high-level meeting for the Global Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
Speaking during the opening of the meeting, which saw the participation of over 90 countries in addition to the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan urged the attendees to exert all effort in order to reach a two-state solution, saying that issuing condemnations against Israel and proposing partial solutions are no longer viable, as reported by Al-Arabiya.
‘The escalation that the region is witnessing and the continued Israeli aggression on Palestine and Lebanon, and the expansion of the conflict regionally and potentially global, makes it inevitable for all of us to take a decisive and immediate position to put an end to the crimes and the violations committed by Israel,’ Faisal said, while also reiterating the Kingdom’s support of the ‘vital’ role that the UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) has been playi
ng.
He cautioned that Israeli practices and the continued aggression undermine the possibility of reaching a two-state solution.
‘Now, more than ever, we should intensify our joint efforts to save the two-solution in order to restore security, stability and establish peace in our region.’
Faisal also expressed hope that the alliance’s meetings will contribute toward translating these commitments on the ground and setting a timeline to end the occupation and create a Palestinian state.
Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least 43,163 Palestinians and injuring over 101,510 others, at a time when at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.
