Red Cross Facilitates Transfer of Released Detainees to Gaza Hospital

Gaza: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Monday that it facilitated the transfer of six released detainees from the Kerem Abu Salem crossing to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza, enabling them to communicate and reunite with their families.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Committee stated that it has been unable to access detainees held in Israeli detention centers since October 2023. It emphasized the urgent need to be informed of the detainees' fate and whereabouts and to be granted access to them.

The ICRC stressed that under international humanitarian law, detainees must be treated humanely, provided with appropriate conditions of detention, and allowed to communicate with their families. The organization highlighted the importance of these measures to ensure the well-being of detainees.

The Committee also noted that many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting information about their detained relatives amid growing concerns over their health and safety. It affirmed its commitment to continue its dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees.
