Doha: The State of Qatar participated Tuesday in a virtual coordination meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to discuss holding awareness-raising events on the dangers of using drugs. Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department, the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Dr. Jabr Hamoud Jabr Al-Naimi, represented the State of Qatar at the meeting which brought together representatives of the GCC Ministries of Interior, the GCC Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office in Vienna, and the GCC Criminal Information Center to Combat Drugs. The meeting discussed a set of proposals on organizing an annual event called the Gulf Anti-Drug Week in conjunction with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which falls annually on Jun. 26, and a unified exhibition for the GCC anti-drug agencies on the sidelines of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs meetings at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) headquarters in Vienna.
