Protest in Tubas-area-village Against Demolition of School Under Construction

Tubas: Several residents, including school students, participated in a protest on Thursday in the village of Aqaba, east of Tubas, condemning Israel's demolition of a school that was under construction. Participants in the protest, called for by the Factions Coordination Committee and the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, held up banners denouncing the demolition of the school.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Tubas and the Northern Jordan Valley Governor Ahmed Al-Asaad stated that the occupation's demolition of the Aqaba School violates all international agreements. Al-Asaad expressed his condemnation of the demolition of the school, which was funded by the French government. He remarked that "Israel is trying to destroy every avenue of education, especially in the eastern areas of Tubas, but the will of our people is stronger than their bulldozers."

Azmi Balawneh, Director of Education in Tubas, highlighted that the school was supposed to serve 100 students, emphasizing that this aggression targeting education will not undermine the children's determination to obtain an education. He noted that the protest sends a message to the entire world that the will of the Palestinian people will remain stronger than violence and destruction.

Mahmoud Sawafta, Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Tubas, stated that the school was more than just a building, describing it as an edifice of peace, knowledge, and love. He noted that by demolishing it, the occupation is destroying the dreams of children and future generations, reflecting the true face of the occupation. Sawafta urged international institutions to put an end to the injustice inflicted by the occupation on the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The occupation demolished the two-story school on Tuesday. The school, which was to cover an area of 704 square meters, was built on a land area of five dunams.
