Post: Prime Minister Mustafa and Azerbaijani President Aliyev Focus on Palestine Developments and Strengthening Ties

Baku: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa briefed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday about the latest political developments and the situation in Palestine, focusing on ongoing Israeli actions in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. These actions encompass escalating colonist attacks, land confiscation for settlement expansion, and the continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, during their meeting at the Zagulba Palace in Baku, Prime Minister Mustafa also highlighted the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, exacerbated by the ongoing closure of crossings and Israeli obstructions hindering the entry of relief and recovery supplies. Additionally, there are severe shortages of medicine and food affecting the region.

Prime Minister Mustafa conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas's greetings and appreciation to President Aliyev, commending Azerbaijan for its steadfast support for the two-state solution based on international law. He expressed gratitude for the humanitarian and development assistance provided to Palestine, particularly to UNRWA, and for the cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.

The leaders also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors. President Aliyev reiterated his country's firm commitment to the two-state solution based on international law and conveyed his greetings and appreciation to President Mahmoud Abbas.

This official visit, initiated at the invitation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will include a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Palestinian National Council, and a visit to the Victory Monument and the mausoleum of national leader Heydar Aliyev, among other engagements.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Minister of Finance and Planning Istifan Salameh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Ambassador Omar Awadallah, and Palestinian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ahmed Mitani.
