Cairo: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Thursday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. They discussed the latest developments in Palestine, the challenges facing the entire region, and the ongoing humanitarian efforts to assist the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Prime Minister Mustafa commended the Arab League’s support for the State of Palestine and the Palestinian people on all levels, emphasizing the need for increased assistance during this difficult period of time, particularly for the reconstruction of Gaza, which has been devastated by the Israeli occupation.
In a press conference following the meeting, Mustafa stated: “We briefed the Secretary-General Aboul Gheit on the political and diplomatic efforts being led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Government to face upcoming challenges, especially at the political level. We have received full support and endorsement from the Secretary-General, and we look forward to intensifying our work with the Arab League Secretariat and member States in the coming phase to overcome these challenges.” He further emphasized that the priority remains our people in the Gaza Strip.
Despite the concerning political and security situation, Prime Minister Mustafa assured that the Government of Palestine is working seriously to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza and is preparing for the swift reconstruction, as well as working in cooperation with all partners and friends to overcome the current challenges.
At the end of the press conference, Prime Minister Mustafa reassured, saying, “We want to assure our people in the Gaza Strip that we will not leave them in this situation, and the coming days will be better.”
The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior Major General Ziad Hab al-Rih, Palestine’s Ambassador to the Arab League, Muhannad al-Aklouk, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine Affairs Ambassador Saeid Abu Ali, and Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Hussam Zaki.
