Ramallah: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received today at the Presidential Headquarters in Ramallah, the Special Envoy of China to the Middle East, Ambassador Zhai Jun, and his accompanying delegation.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas welcomed the Chinese delegation and commended China's positions supporting Palestinian rights at international forums, highlighting the historical relations linking the two countries and peoples. He expressed gratitude for the humanitarian and development assistance provided by China, particularly to the people in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, President Abbas discussed the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause and emphasized the importance of solidifying the cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip. He stressed the need for Israeli withdrawal from the Strip and the launch of reconstruction efforts. He also underscored the necessity to halt Israeli attacks in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as to stop colonial expansion and violence.
President Abbas highlighted the significance of continuing international efforts to end the occupation and achieve independence for the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He welcomed the invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the Arab-Chinese Summit in Beijing next June, appreciating China's supportive positions toward the Palestinian people and the strengthening of ties between the two nations.
Furthermore, President Abbas reaffirmed Palestine's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with China to serve the interests of both peoples. He reiterated support for the One-China policy and praised China's prudent international policies contributing to regional stability and global peace.
The Chinese envoy conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping and reaffirmed China's firm support for Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent state. He confirmed the continuation of humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian people.
