London: President Mahmoud Abbas met with a delegation of British doctors in London who recently returned from the Gaza Strip, where they provided medical assistance amidst ongoing conflict. The doctors recounted their experiences working in the region's hospitals and the challenges faced due to the systematic targeting of civilians and medical personnel.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the delegation highlighted the pressing needs of Gaza's health sector and their role in raising awareness among the British and international communities about the humanitarian crisis and alleged war crimes against Palestinians. President Abbas expressed his gratitude for the doctors' humanitarian efforts and announced plans to award them high medals from the State of Palestine, recognizing their dedication to serving humanity.
During the meeting, President Abbas discussed the dire situation in Gaza, calling for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression and the provision of urgent humanitarian aid. He reiterated Palestine's readiness to support the region's recovery and reconstruction. The President also acknowledged the United Kingdom's intention to recognize the State of Palestine and its efforts in facilitating international aid and ending the conflict.
President Abbas is currently on a three-day state visit to the United Kingdom, invited by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
