Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday extended his gratitude to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his unwavering support for Palestine and the Palestinian people.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas praised the Crown Prince's statements during the opening of the ninth session of the Shura Council, where bin Salman emphasized that the rights of Gazans cannot be undermined by any act of aggression or threats. These comments were seen as a reflection of Saudi Arabia's long-standing and principled stance on the Palestinian issue.
President Abbas highlighted that bin Salman's remarks align with the Arab Peace Initiative, which remains a key framework for achieving a just and comprehensive peace. The goal is to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He further lauded Saudi Arabia's efforts in forming the Global Alliance for the Implementation of a Two-State Solution, aimed at expanding international recognition of the State of Palestine and strengthening the global consensus on the two-state solution.
Additionally, President Abbas expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia's clear condemnation of continuous Israeli assaults and its rejection of Israeli actions against Palestinians, including starvation and forced displacement.
