President Abbas Engages in Strategic Dialogue with Kazakh President on Palestinian Situation

Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where they discussed recent political developments and the current situation in Palestine, focusing on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as paths to achieving peace according to international law.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas expressed his gratitude for President Tokayev's call, acknowledging the robust relations between their countries and peoples. He commended Kazakhstan's political stance supporting Palestinian rights to freedom and independence and its commitment to peace based on international law. Abbas appreciated Kazakhstan's opposition to settlement activity, annexation, and forced displacement, along with its humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

President Abbas updated President Tokayev on the Palestinian stance, calling for an end to hostilities, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the initiation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's peace plan. He highlighted the plan's focus on Palestinian police and security responsibilities, establishing a contiguous state with one law and legitimate force, and preventing Gaza's division while facilitating recovery and reconstruction.

He also detailed the challenges faced by Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including occupation force incursions, settlement and annexation policies, settler terrorism, and withheld Palestinian funds. Abbas urged international intervention to halt these policies and release withheld funds.

The President emphasized ongoing cooperation with Saudi Arabia, the US administration, and international partners to end the war and implement a two-state solution, ending the occupation as a step towards regional peace.

Abbas accepted an invitation from President Tokayev to visit Kazakhstan next year, hoping to strengthen bilateral relations. President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan's support for Palestinian rights and commitment to enhancing bilateral ties developed over 33 years.
