President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed today British Foreign Secretary David Cameron at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah. During the meeting, President Abbas briefed Britain's top diplomat on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Gaza. He stressed the urgent need for an immediate cessation of the all-out Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, condemning the ongoing Israeli genocide of Palestinians and calling for the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. President Abbas also highlighted the necessity of halting the attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settler terrorists in the West Bank. Additionally, he underscored the importance of releasing Palestinian tax funds withheld by the Israeli occupation government. The Palestinian leader reiterated his unequivocal rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from Gaza or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. He emphasized that there can never be a military or security solution for Gaza, asserting that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian state. President Abbas rejected any acceptance or tolerance of Israel's plans to separate Gaza from the West Bank and Jerusalem or to reoccupy and annex any part of it. He emphasized that security and peace can only be achieved through a political solution based on the two-state framework and on the basis of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, leading to an end of the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The President urged the British Foreign Secretary to recognize the State of Palestine and help it gain full membership in the United Nations. Source: Palestine news and Information Agency – WAFA
