Ramallah: The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, has urgently requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. This includes the destruction of entire residential blocks in the Jenin and Tulkarm camps, the bombing of dozens of homes, and the forced evacuation of citizens from their homes in Tamoun and the Far’a camp in Tubas. Furthermore, there has been systematic destruction of infrastructure and a policy of violence that has resulted in the deaths of dozens of citizens, injuries to hundreds, and thousands of arrests. There have also been instances of terrorism by colonists, including the burning of homes and properties, all aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land and homeland.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Palestinian presidency has appealed to the UN Security Council to urgently intervene and take responsibility for providing international protection for the Palestinian people. They have also called for pressure on the occupying state to cease its serious crimes, which include the displacement of Palestinian citizens and the implementation of a policy of ethnic cleansing, actions deemed as war crimes and genocide under international law.
The presidency has also urged the US administration to immediately intervene and compel Israel to halt its operations of destruction and displacement, in order to prevent further escalation and tension that could have destructive effects on the entire region.
Furthermore, the presidency pointed out that the occupation army is continuing its plans, initiated in the Gaza Strip, to displace the Palestinian people by demolishing homes and residential neighborhoods. This is seen as an attempt to impose its rejected and condemned plans, which the Palestinian people are determined to resist, defending their history and sacred sites. The presidency expressed confidence in thwarting these displacement plans, as they have successfully countered previous attempts targeting their legitimate rights and constants.
The presidency reiterated the danger posed by these destructive actions carried out by the occupation forces, emphasizing the serious repercussions for the Palestinian people and the entire region. It stressed that such actions will not lead to peace and security for anyone involved.
The Palestinian presidency affirmed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land and will continue to resist these plans through their resilience.
