Cairo: President Mahmoud Abbas met with Colombian President Gustavo Petro at his residence in Cairo, on the sidelines of his visit to Egypt to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas expressed gratitude to President Petro for Colombia's consistent support for the Palestinian cause in international forums. He highlighted Colombia's commitment to international law and the right to self-determination for all peoples.
President Abbas emphasized the importance of strengthening Palestinian-Colombian relations in various fields. He also appreciated Colombia's readiness to assist with humanitarian and reconstruction efforts for the Palestinian people.
During their meeting, President Petro affirmed Colombia's support for a ceasefire, the release of prisoners and hostages, the provision of humanitarian aid, and the pursuit of a comprehensive peace that ensures freedom and independence for the Palestinian people.
