Berlin: A new opinion poll in Germany demonstrated that a majority of respondents are in favor of recognizing the State of Palestine and support the European Union's proposal to suspend trade and customs agreements with Israel. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the poll conducted by the German public broadcaster ARD found that 55% of respondents support recognizing Palestine, while 20% are opposed to the move. In relation to the sanctions the European Union is planning to impose on Israel, 55% of respondents expressed a desire for Germany to back the EU proposal to suspend trade and customs agreements with Israel, with 27% opposing this course of action. The survey further disclosed that 63% of Germans believe that Israel's military actions in Gaza have "gone too far."
