Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa received a phone call on Sunday from British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper during which they discussed efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to address attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the two leaders discussed efforts to ensure the success of the conference in New York and joint efforts to implement the outcomes of the document issued by the UN International Conference on the Two-State Solution held in late July, as well as governance arrangements and the management of Gaza affairs once the war ends.
They discussed efforts to address attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and measures to halt actions described as annexation, settlement expansion, and withholding of Palestinian funds.
The two officials emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and intensified international efforts to change policies and halt actions in the West Bank that they said undermine prospects for peace.
Prime Minister Mustafa congratulated Foreign Secretary Cooper on her appointment and affirmed his readiness for joint cooperation to advance peace and support stability efforts in the region.
Cooper reaffirmed the partnership between the United Kingdom and Palestine and highlighted the British government’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza, facilitating humanitarian aid, supporting efforts to realize a Palestinian state, and promoting international recognition of the State of Palestine as a means to achieve regional stability.
