PM Mustafa Calls for Accountability of Israel’s Actions in Palestine

Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the need for Israel to be held accountable for its actions, urging the international community to recognize the devastation in Gaza. He highlighted ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, with specific reference to the destruction of homes, forced displacement, and attacks on holy sites.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mustafa stated during a joint press conference with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, held at the Prime Minister's Office in Ramallah, that the world must not overlook Israel's grave violations of international law. He noted that in the past 60 days, 50,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarem.

Mustafa pointed out Israeli measures that undermine the Palestinian Government's functionality, such as military incursions and withholding Palestinian tax revenues. He expressed appreciation for the EU's support and its call for responsibility across all occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza and the West Bank.

The Prime Minister thanked the EU for backing Palestine's pursuit of justice and independence, urging continued international efforts to end the occupation. He also called on the EU to participate in the upcoming donor conference for Gaza's reconstruction in Cairo and to play an active role in the United Nations conference in New York on the Question of Palestine.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas affirmed the EU's support for the Palestinian Government, emphasizing the importance of the Palestinian Authority governing Gaza. She noted the strengthening relationship between the EU and Palestine, with an upcoming high-level political dialogue in Brussels aimed at increasing cooperation.

Kallas also stressed that Israeli actions, including destruction and settlement expansion in the West Bank, undermine the two-State solution, which she described as the only path to sustainable peace.
