Post: PJS Reports 209 Journalists Killed Since Start of Israeli Aggression on Gaza

Gaza: Israel has killed 209 journalists since the onset of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate (PJS).

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the PJS denounced in a press statement the Israeli attack near Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, which targeted reporters sheltering in a tent in the hospital courtyard. This attack resulted in the death of two journalists, Ahmad Mansour and Hilmi al-Faqaawi, and left nine others wounded, including six with serious injuries.

The PJS highlighted that last March witnessed an increase in Israeli targeting of journalists. The Israeli occupation forces killed seven journalists in the Gaza Strip, including six who were covering events. Additionally, eight members of journalists' families were also killed.

In Jerusalem, the PJS documented 11 instances where journalists were summoned for interrogation, and 11 journalists were banned from approaching Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem.

The PJS further reported that the occupation forces committed 102 crimes and assaults against journalists and media personnel in the West Bank and Gaza last March. These incidents included 40 cases of apprehension and banning of media coverage, 12 cases of direct shooting at journalists resulting in two casualties, and the detention of seven journalists, some of whom were released later.

Other documented cases involved physical assaults against journalists and media personnel, the destruction of three houses belonging to journalists, house raids, confiscation of equipment, placing journalists under house arrest, banning others' entry into Jerusalem, and instances of incitement and threats.
