Chairman of ? Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Dr. Fares Braizat, discussed on Wednesday with the Spanish Ambassador to Jordan, Miguel de Lucas Gonz?lez, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alhambra Palace and Generalife, Rodrigo Ruiz-Jiménez Carrera, aspects of joint cooperation and development of mutual projects in the tourism promotion fields. During the meeting, the two sides discussed development of joint marketing programs and PDTRA's projects with Alhambra Palace and Generalife in Spain, which are visited annually by more than 5 million people, which would contribute to raise the marketing and promotion levels of the ancient city of Petra and increase the number of tourists. Braizat stressed the importance of establishing a framework for joint cooperation and partnership to preserve cultural heritage, promote tourism and consolidate mutual relations. Braizat also spoke about Petra as a world heritage site and a prominent landmark on the global tourism map, in additio n to its historical importance dating back thousands of years. In this context, he referred to the PDTRA's management of Petra and its development to contribute to create new tourism services, preserve and sustain the historical destination for future generations, and increase benefits of local communities from the tourism process.
