The United States finished 1st in the Olympics, having won a total of 126 medals: 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze. China came in 2nd with a total of 91 medals: 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze. The 3rd place was secured by Japan with 45 medals: 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. Moreover, Australia finished in 4th place, earning 53 medals:18 gold, 19 silver, and 16 bronze, while the host country, France, came in 5th place with 64 medals: 16 gold, 26 silver, and 22 bronze, as for the Netherlands, it managed to capture the 6th place with 34 medals: 15 gold, 7 silver, and 12 bronze.
