New York: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the success of the international peace conference in New York. President Abbas commended the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, issued by the joint presidency of the conference, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the sincere and dedicated efforts made by the joint presidency, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, throughout all stages of preparation, coordination, and holding of this historic conference. He extended his thanks to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the staff of the General Secretariat. He also thanked the countries that chaired the working groups, participated actively, and submitted the working papers that were included and announced.
President Abbas commended the courageous stances of these friendly countries, which affirmed their commitment to the vision of a two-state solution and to peace based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, reiterating his commitment to the pledges made to implement this.
He stressed that these countries' recognition of the State of Palestine, or their declaration of their positive willingness to recognize the State of Palestine, represents a historic step toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace and strengthens international efforts to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Abbas called on other countries to join this call and contribute to advancing the political process based on the two-state solution, ensuring security and stability for all peoples of the region.
