Ramallah: Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesperson for President Mahmoud Abbas, stated that the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, which continues to result in daily casualties, including three people killed on Tuesday morning, along with colonist attacks in the West Bank, will not alter the essence of the conflict or grant legitimacy to any party involved.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abu Rudeineh emphasized that as long as the occupation persists, there will be no security or stability in the region or the world. He stressed that the only solution to the crises and wars affecting the Middle East is a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, grounded in international law, the Arab Peace Initiative, and UN resolutions. Although acknowledging the process as long, complex, and challenging, he described it as the sole path to prevent further wars.
Abu Rudeineh noted that while the options available to the region and the world remain difficult and dangerous due to ongoing conflicts and the erosion of international legitimacy, there is an opportunity to restore regional stability. He highlighted the need to pursue a settlement based on ending the occupation and granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
He further elaborated that this settlement should include the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international and Arab legitimacy and international law.
