Palestinian Detainees Subjected to Cruel and Inhumane Treatment at Israel’s Ofer Prison

Ramallah: The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Tuesday that the conditions in Ofer prison, located west of Ramallah, are tragic, with the policy of suppression of detainees' rooms still ongoing.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Commission, quoting its lawyer, stated that detainees were subjected to a raid by units affiliated with the prison administration. The raid involved assaulting the detainees with batons and spraying gas, resulting in many detainees suffering bruises across their bodies.

The Commission further explained that the raid was prompted by the detainees' protest. They had been knocking on doors to demand that the administration provide treatment to a sick prisoner. Additionally, the detainees have raised concerns about a shortage in the quantity of food provided to them, which has led to significant weight loss among the prisoners.
