Jerusalem: A Palestinian detainee from the Gaza Strip has died in Israeli custody, as reported by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs and the Palestine Prisoner's Society (PPS).
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Commission and the PPS announced in a joint press release that they were informed of the death of Ali Ashour Ali Al-Batsh, aged 62, from Jabalia, located north of the Gaza Strip. Al-Batsh passed away while detained in the Israeli prison of Naqab.
The organizations stated that Al-Batsh's death brings the total number of detainees who have died due to systematic torture in Israeli imprisonment since the onset of Israeli aggression to 62. This includes at least 41 detainees from the Gaza Strip. The total number of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli custody since 1967 has now reached 298. The statement also noted that there may be other detainees who have died from similar circumstances, but their identities remain undisclosed. Additionally, there are numerous detainees from the Gaza Strip who have died in Israeli custody and are forcefully disappeared.
