Palestinian Church Affairs Committee Urges Global Church Leaders to Speak Out Against Israeli Violations

Ramallah: The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine, led by Ramzi Khoury, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), has called on church leaders worldwide to take a clear and public stance against the crimes and violations committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the committee issued an official letter, accompanied by a report documenting grave human rights violations, in which they highlighted the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. The letter emphasized the mass destruction and catastrophic human loss occurring amid what the committee described as disturbing international silence. The letter detailed that Israel's actions, including killings, arrests, and forced displacement, are not confined to Gaza but also extend to the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem. The committee noted that these areas are experiencing systematic ethnic cleansing, colonization, a nd religious violations. The committee condemned Israel's continued aggression, carried out in blatant violation of international law and human rights conventions. They called for a moral stance that rejects complicity and stands for justice and human dignity. The committee urged church leaders to utilize their voice and spiritual influence to expose the crimes of the occupation, call for an end to all forms of support or silence toward it, and demand accountability before international forums. This call aligns with Christian principles that advocate for the protection of human beings and the elimination of injustice. The letter concluded with a powerful statement: 'Silence and inaction serve only to empower the oppressor and allow impunity to prevail.'
