Palestinian Child, 12, Killed as Israeli Forces Intensify Military Operations Near Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital

Gaza city: A Palestinian child was shot dead by Israeli forces on Monday evening, while extensive military operations were taking place around Al-Shifa Hospital, west of Gaza City.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, medical sources reported that 12-year-old Abdul Rahman Azzam Abu Asi was shot dead from Israeli gunfire in the Morag area, north of Rafah. This incident brought the death toll in southern Gaza to six, including five civilians who were waiting for humanitarian aid.

In a similar context, Israeli forces conducted a ground military maneuver inside Gaza City, advancing from the eastern and northern axes to the Al-Sahaba Intersection on Al-Jalaa Street. They also penetrated Al-Nasr Street, approximately 200 meters from Al-Shifa Hospital, one of the most prominent health facilities in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, other units moved from the south toward the Fares fuel station in the university district in an effort to impose a military cordon around Al-Shifa Hospital.

Earlier, medical sources in Gaza announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, had risen to 66,055 documented fatalities, with over 168,346 reported wounded. Thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, as Israeli bombardment continues to hinder the efforts of ambulance and civil defense crews.
