Ljubljana: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Aghabekian, met with her Slovenian counterpart, Tanja Fajon, in Slovenia's capital, Ljubljana. This meeting is a part of ongoing Palestinian diplomatic efforts aimed at halting what they describe as a war of extermination against the Palestinian people, while also seeking to strengthen bilateral relations with Slovenia.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Minister Aghabekian conveyed deep appreciation from the Palestinian leadership and its people for Slovenia's recognition of the State of Palestine and its consistent support in international and European forums. She also expressed gratitude for Slovenia's humanitarian aid, notably its continued backing of the UNRWA agency.
Minister Aghabekian further emphasized the significance of reinforcing bilateral ties and reiterated that the Palestinian people are in pursuit of peace and the establishment of a democratic state, capable of rebuilding post-conflict in Gaza. She pointed out the detrimental effect of the ongoing withholding of Palestinian clearance funds, which she described as a hindrance to reform efforts, weakening national institutions and undermining the Palestinian government's operations.
Minister Fajon, on her part, welcomed Minister Aghabekian's visit and reiterated Slovenia's commitment to supporting Palestine and its people. She pledged to collaborate with European and international partners to cease the conflict, halt the violence against children, and prevent further humanitarian deterioration, aiming for a just peace in the region.
At the conclusion of their meeting, both ministers underscored the importance of joint efforts to end the conflict, enable humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and apply international pressure and sanctions on Israel due to ongoing violations by colonizers.
