Australia Continues to Strongly Support Two-State Solution: PM

Gaza: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that his country continues to strongly support the principle of a two-state solution in the Middle East. This came in an interview in which he commented on his country's decision to recognize Palestine as an independent state and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Albanese explained that Australia wants an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all prisoners. He emphasized Australia's commitment to the principle of a two-state solution that aims to provide both Palestinians and Israelis the opportunity to live side by side in peace and security. He mentioned that Australia will continue to advocate for this solution in international forums. Albanese also acknowledged that while Australia may not be an influential force in the Middle East, it refrains from selling weapons to Israel. Moreover, Australia has supported initiatives aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza S trip, both through direct communication with the Israeli government and by supporting these initiatives in international forums. It is noteworthy that the Australian Prime Minister announced on August 11 his intention to recognize Palestine as a state during the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly in September.
