Palestine’s Mansour: Israel is inventing a new law to pursue its genocidal and colonial campaign
Permanent Observer for the observer State of Palestine Riyad Mansour Tuesday said that Israel was inventing a new law so as to pursue its genocidal and colonial campaign.
Speaking before the United Nations Security Council’s open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, in New York, Masnour stated that Israelis are at war with the UN as they continue ‘declaring the Secretary-General persona non grata, killing and maiming and detaining and torturing UN staff, attacking UN peacekeepers and striving to dismantle a UN agency.’
The new legislation to destroy the UNRWA’s ability to serve the Palestinian civilian population constitutes ‘a new level in this war against the UN’, he added.
As the “entire population of north Gaza is at risk of dying”, he underscored that Israel is ‘doubling down on its genocide’ and ‘betting that its will to kill and colonise will outweigh the collective will of the international community to save lives and achieve freedom and peace’.
Commentin
g on Israel’s policy of acting above the law, he said: ‘Israel is inventing a law that adapts to, and changes with, the identity of the victims and the identity of the perpetrators. A racist, supremacist, inhumane law,’ while adding that the nation understands that ‘to pursue its genocidal and colonial campaign, it needs to dismantle the international-law based order or to carve an Israeli exception within it’.
‘Will you allow Israel to dehumanise us further as part of its attempt to erase us?’ he asked the Council, urging the 15-member organ to ‘honour the memory of those killed and save those who can still be saved by deciding on an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.’
‘Let your actions match your words. Stop this genocide, or forever remain silent,’ he concluded.
