Over 4,500 people had been evacuated after torrential rain lashed Longnan City, northwest China's Gansu Province, Chinese authorities said on Wednesday. Heavy rains hit Longnan from Monday to Tuesday, with a maximum precipitation of 188 mm, according to Longnan meteorological observatory. Mountain torrents, landslides, mudslides, and other disasters triggered by heavy rains shut down 14 highways and caused damages to residential houses and farmlands.
