The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar Al-Hakim, urged the government today, Thursday, to end the issue of war remnants that claims the lives of innocent people in contaminated areas. Al-Hakim said in a statement, "In light of international and local statistics on victims of unexploded ordnance of war, Iraq's need to adopt advanced international experiences and work in accordance with international agreements in this field to resolve the issue of mines, especially in the eastern border areas and areas liberated from the terrorist ISIS." He added: "On International Day of Mine Awareness, we urge the government and its relevant formations to harness all efforts and solve the problems of financing and human support and remove obstacles to ending the issue of war remnants and deadly bombs that claim the lives of innocent people in contaminated areas."
