The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the decision of the Government of Jamaica to recognize the State of Palestine, considering such important step to be consistent with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, as it contributes to enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate rights, including their right to return, and to establish their independent State on the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem. The OIC also renewed its call on all countries of the world that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take the initiative to announce their recognition of the State of Palestine, in support of international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region on the basis of the two-state solution and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
