Post: OIC Issues Warning Over Israeli Occupation’s Plans in Hebron

Hebron: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a warning regarding the Israeli occupation's plans that threaten the political, historical, and legal status of the city of Hebron.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the OIC highlighted the recent decision by the Israeli Finance Minister to strip the Hebron Municipality of its authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Old City, and surrounding areas, along with the revocation of the Hebron Agreement.

The General Secretariat of the OIC emphasized that Israel, as the occupying power, does not hold sovereignty over Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, which includes Hebron and its sacred sites. This position is supported by relevant United Nations and UNESCO resolutions which affirm the status of these sites.

Furthermore, the OIC reiterated its call for the international community to uphold its responsibilities in preserving and protecting the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Old City of Hebron, and its historical landmarks. These sites are considered an intrinsic part of the State of Palestine and its cultural heritage, recognized on UNESCO's List of World Heritage in Danger.
