Jerusalem: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' incursion into the headquarters of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the occupied city of Jerusalem, including the removal of the United Nations flag from the compound. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, in a statement released on Tuesday, the organization said that this action constitutes a serious breach of the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions, as well as the legal opinions issued by the International Court of Justice regarding the agency. The OIC added that the raid forms part of a continuing pattern of repeated Israeli violations of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations, which, under international agreements, guarantees protection for UN bodies, their personnel, assets, and facilities. The OIC renewed its call on the international community to interve ne immediately to put an end to these systematic Israeli attacks aimed at undermining the mandate of this UN agency and its vital role, and to halt the policies of the Israeli occupation that fall within attempts to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue and their right of return. It also reiterated its appeal to the international community to provide full political, legal, financial, and humanitarian support to UNRWA.
