Ramallah: The presidency of Fatah's eighth general conference announced the official preliminary results of the elections for members of the movement's Central Committee and Revolutionary Council during a press conference held at Ahmad Shuqairi Hall at the presidential headquarters.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the voter turnout in the elections for the Central Committee and Revolutionary Council across the four arenas of Ramallah, Gaza, Lebanon, and Cairo reached a significant 94.64 percent. The conference included 2,595 members, with 59 candidates vying for 18 seats on the Central Committee and 450 candidates competing for 80 seats on the Revolutionary Council.
The eighth general conference of the Fatah Movement started last Thursday, attended by President Mahmoud Abbas along with ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Palestine, religious figures, representatives of national factions and forces, and civil society institutions.
In the Fatah Central Committee elections, Marwan Haseeb Hussein Barghouti led with 1,893 votes. He was followed closely by Majed Ali Mohammed Faraj, who garnered 1,884 votes. Jibril Mahmoud Mohammed Rajoub received 1,631 votes. Other notable results included Hussein al-Sheikh with 1,586 votes, Laila Dawood Mohammed Ghanem with 1,494 votes, and Mahmoud Othman Ragheb Al-Aloul with 1,488 votes. Additional elected members include Tawfiq Mohammed Hussein Tirawi with 1,378 votes and Yasser Mahmoud Reda Abbas with 1,301 votes.
The results further detailed that Zakaria Mohammed Abdulrahman Zubeidi received 1,231 votes, Taysir Salem Mansour Al-Bardini obtained 1,225 votes, while Ahmad Hassan Awad Abu Holi received 1,208 votes. Ahmad Mohammed Suleiman Helles received 1,159 votes, and Adnan Adel Tawfiq Ghaith garnered 1,092 votes. Mousa Mahmoud Mustafa Abu Zaid obtained 1,034 votes, Dalal Abdul-Hafeth Mahmoud Salama received 961 votes, Madani Mohammed Al-Madani got 947 votes, Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Ishtayeh received 912 votes, and Eyad Sobhi Ismail Safi concluded the list with 901 votes.
