Amman: The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) has finalized the criteria for accrediting inspection centers for used electric vehicles, in alignment with the 2024 Electric Vehicle Compliance Evaluation Procedures published in the Official Gazette. According to a statement released on Sunday, the new requirements include a range of administrative and technical conditions that inspection centers must meet to gain accreditation. These conditions mandate that centers be established by Jordanian legislation and possess the necessary licenses from all relevant authorities. The guidelines further stipulate that accredited centers must provide qualified experts, technicians, and the required equipment and technologies for conducting inspections as per the established procedures. Additionally, these centers are required to offer inspection services as an independent third party to ensure impartiality, neutrality, and integrity throughout the inspection process. The JSMO has called on entities intere sted in offering inspection services for used electric vehicles to review these requirements and submit their applications. The organization will evaluate these applications to accredit centers that fulfill the established criteria. The requirements were developed following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Free Zone Investors Association, and various maintenance and inspection centers. These discussions aimed to establish comprehensive technical and administrative standards based on best practices, ensuring that inspections effectively guarantee the safety and reliability of used electric vehicles prior to their entry into Jordan.
