Doha: National Statistics Center data showed that 466 building permits were issued in April 2024, a decrease of 38% when compared with those issued in Mrach 2024 which saw the issuance of 747 building permits. Comparing number of permits issued in April 2024 with those issued in the previous month, this decrease was noted in all the municipalities: Al Sheehaniya (63%), Al Khor (60%), Al Doha (50%), Al Wakrah (42%), Al Rayyan (37%), Al Shamal (33%), Al Da'ayen (10%) , Umm Slal (3%), the Center added in a press release today. In a quick review of the data on building permits issued during the month of April 2024, according to their geographical distribution, municipality of Al Rayyan comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building permits issued were 132 permits, i.e. 28% of the total issued permits, while municipality of Al Da'ayen came in second place with 100 permits, i.e. 22%, followed by municipality of Al Doha with 90 permits, i.e.19%, then Al Wakrah municipality with 70 permits, i.e .15%. The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Um Slal 38 permits (8%), Al Khor 22 permits (5%), Al Sheehaniya 10 permits (2%), Al Shammal 4 permits (1%). In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 47% (219 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of April 2024, while the percentage of additions permits constituted 50% (235 permits), and finally fencing permits with 3% (12 permits). By analyzing new residential buildings permits data, villas permits topped the list, accounting for 89% (158 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by apartments buildings permits by 10% (17 permits), and other residential buildings permits by 1% (2 permits). On the other hand, industrial buildings e.g., workshops/factories were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits with 50% (21 permits), followed by service / infrastructure buildings with 38% (16 permits. As for the r emaining types of non-residential buildings, they obtained 2% for each type (one permit each), except for medical and educational services buildings, which did not obtain any permit . The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Slal 17 certificates 7%, Al Khor 12 certificates 5%, Al Shammal 8 certificates 3%, Al Sheehaniya 3 certificates 1%. In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicates that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitutes 84% (196 certificates) of the total building certificates issued during the month of April 2024, while the percentage of additions certificates constituted 16% (37 certificates). By analyzing new residential buildings completion certificates data, villas permits topped the list, accounting for 89% (136 certificates) of all new residential buildings completion certificates, followed by apartments buildings by 7% (11 certificates), then other residential buildings certificates by 4% (6 certificates). On the other hand, commercial and administration buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings completion certificates with 49% (21 certificates), followed by industrial buildings e.g., workshops and factories with 30% (13 certificates), then mosques with 12% (5 certificates). Comparing number of certificates issued in April 2024 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 31%. This decrease was clearly noted in most of the municipalities: Al Da'ayen (50%), Al Doha (46%), Al Sheehaniya (40%), Al Wakrah (35%), Al Khor (29%), Umm slal (19%), Al Rayyan (12%) , On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of: Al Shamal (60%). Building permits and building completion certificates data is of particular importance as it is considered an indicator for the performance of the construction sector which in turn occupies a significant position in the national economy.
